Picking the right plan is harder than it used to be, because OpenAI now sells five tiers in India: Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business. Each one suits a different kind of user, so let us go through what each costs today and who should actually pay for it.
What changed since our last update: OpenAI’s models have moved to the GPT-6 family. Free and Go run on GPT-6, Plus unlocks advanced reasoning models, and Pro adds GPT-6 Astra reasoning. Pro is also no longer a two-level plan. It now comes in three usage tiers labelled 100, 200 and 500, priced at ₹10,699, ₹19,900 and ₹52,900 per month including GST. ChatGPT Go is listed at ₹399 per month. OpenAI has run a promotional discount in India that made Go free for some accounts, and our own account showed 100% off Go when we checked, but that offer is not advertised on OpenAI’s pricing pages. Understanding Current ChatGPT Pricing Plans In India
Free costs nothing and gives you unlimited text chats on GPT-6, with limits on uploads, images, voice, deep research, memory and Codex. Go costs ₹399 per month including GST and adds more messages with tools, more uploads, more image creation, more voice chats and longer memory. Plus costs ₹1,999 per month including GST and brings advanced reasoning, expanded deep research, expanded Codex, a Work agent that acts across your apps and files, and Projects, scheduled tasks and custom GPTs. Pro starts at ₹10,699 per month and is built for people who work with ChatGPT all day. Business is for teams of two or more and is priced per seat.

ChatGPT Free Plan – Best for Trying Out ChatGPT
Free is a perfectly reasonable place to start. You get unlimited text chats on GPT-6 (subject to OpenAI's abuse guardrails), search, study mode, and limited access to uploads, image creation, voice chats, deep research, memory, Codex and ChatGPT Work on desktop. It also includes the Think option for harder questions.
The limits show up quickly if you use it for more than casual questions. In our testing, image generation on Free takes several minutes per image, uploads run out fast, and the 500 MB Library storage fills up if you generate images regularly. Free also shows ads in markets where they are available. It suits students and casual users who mostly want text answers, and anyone who wants to test whether ChatGPT fits their workflow before paying.
ChatGPT Go Plan – Free in India Until November 7, 2026, Normally the Budget Middle Ground
What Changed: Go also moved to GPT-5.6 Luna, same as Free — the difference between the two tiers isn't a smarter model, it'sGo costs ₹399 per month including GST. It uses the same GPT-6 model as Free, so you are not paying for a smarter model. You are paying for more room: more messages with tools, more uploads, more image creation (seconds instead of minutes in our experience), more voice chats including voice with video, scheduled tasks, and longer memory. Library storage is 4 GB.
On promotions, OpenAI has offered Go free to some users in India, and our own account showed 100% off Go with monthly ₹0.00 transactions at the time of writing. We cannot say that offer applies to everyone, and OpenAI's public pricing pages show plain ₹399 with no promo banner. Treat any free Go offer as a bonus you confirm in your own billing settings, not as the plan's price.
Go may show ads, which matters more when you are paying for the plan. It is still a sensible choice for daily users, freelancers and creators who want faster image generation and more usage than Free without paying Plus prices. Its limits are that deep research and Codex stay limited, and it does not include the advanced reasoning models in Plus.
My experience with Go: after months of regular use I am at 914 MB of my 4 GB storage, made up of 477 MB across 179 files and 437 MB across 763 generated images. If you generate a lot of images, storage fills faster than you would expect.

The main drawback is cost. If you only use ChatGPT lightly, Plus is more than you need, and Go or Free will do the job for far less.
ChatGPT Pro Plan Price In India – Best for Research and Coding
Pro is no longer just a 5x and 20x choice. OpenAI now offers three usage tiers, labelled 100, 200 and 500. The 100 tier is shown as standard usage at ₹10,699 per month, the 200 tier as more usage at ₹19,900 per month, and the 500 tier as maximum power at ₹52,900 per month, all inclusive of GST. The higher tiers also speed up Work and Codex, described as more, faster and fastest across the three levels.
Every Pro tier includes everything in Plus, plus Pro reasoning powered by GPT-6 Astra, Dots (your always-on agents), longer Codex and Work sessions, unlimited and faster image creation, maximum deep research, maximum memory with 100 GB of storage, early access to new tools and models, and no ads. Usage is unlimited subject to OpenAI's abuse guardrails.
This plan is for people who have already hit Plus limits regularly, such as developers running Codex all day, researchers who need repeated deep research runs, or professionals whose work depends on ChatGPT. The jump from Plus at ₹1,999 to ₹10,699 is large, and the top tier is nearly five times the entry tier, so most individual users will never need it. ChatGPT Business Plan – Best for Teams
BusBusiness is about giving a team a shared, secure workspace rather than about how much one person chats, and it now has two seat types you can mix and match. A Standard seat, best for everyday work, costs ₹1,800 per user per month on annual billing. A Premium seat, with 5x more usage than standard and no 5-hour limit, costs ₹9,000 per user per month. Monthly billing is shown as ₹2,250 and ₹11,250 respectively, so the annual plan saves 20%. Business is for teams of 2 to 200 employees. When we last checked in August, prices excluded GST, which is removed at checkout with a valid GST ID, so confirm GST treatment at checkout.
Business includes all ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex features across desktop, web and mobile, connectors for Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Microsoft 365 and more, workspace agents for customized workflows, centralized billing and administration, usage analytics and spend controls, SAML SSO and MFA, and no training on your business data by default. It suits small businesses and agencies that currently pay for several individual Plus accounts, and mixed seats let you give Premium only to the people who hit limits. Which plan for college studies?
For most college students, Go at ₹399 is the best-value paid plan, and Free is the right answer if you want to spend nothing. Free handles occasional doubts and summaries, but slow image generation and tight upload limits become frustrating once you use it regularly through a semester.
Go removes that friction with faster images, more uploads and longer memory, and GPT-6 is more than capable for summaries, assignments and exam prep. If your account shows a Go discount, that makes it an easy choice, but do not plan your budget around it. Keep in mind that Go shows ads.
Plus at ₹1,999 makes sense for engineering and CS students doing serious coding with Codex, or postgraduate students who need expanded deep research for literature reviews and thesis work. Pro and Business are not built for student budgets. Pro is for people who have already maxed out Plus, and Business needs two or more seats, which is usually an institutional decision.
Storage limits
Each plan has a Library storage cap for uploaded files and generated images combined: 500 MB on Free, 4 GB on Go, 20 GB on Plus, 20 GB per seat on Business and 100 GB on Pro. You can check your own usage under Settings → Storage. Files stay in your library until you delete them, Temporary Chat uploads do not count, and per-file limits of 512 MB per file and 20 MB per image apply on every plan.
How to choose the right plan
Three questions settle it for most people. How often do you use ChatGPT, what do you use it for, and are you buying for yourself or a team? Choose Free if you use ChatGPT occasionally for small tasks. Choose Go if you are a student, freelancer or creator who generates images or text daily and wants more room without paying Plus prices. Choose Plus if you rely on advanced reasoning, Codex, deep research or a Work agent for your job. Choose Pro only if you regularly run into Plus limits, and start with the 100 tier unless you know you need more. Choose Business if you are buying for two or more people and want central billing, admin controls and integrations.
