Samsung has launched the Galaxy F70 5G in India as the latest addition to its mid-range F-series, with prices starting at Rs. 19,999. The phone is slim at just 7.5mm and has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.
It runs on Samsung’s own Exynos 1330 processor and packs a 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging. Samsung is promising 4 Android OS upgrades and 5 years of security patches, although the phone ships with Android 15 and One UI 7.0, two versions behind the current Android 17. The phone has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an IP54 rating for dust and splash protection.

At Rs. 19,999, or Rs. 17,999 after the launch bank offer, the Galaxy F70 5G is aimed at buyers who want a slim, lightweight Samsung phone rather than the biggest battery or fastest chip. The AMOLED display, OIS on the main camera, IP54 rating and 192g weight are good fits for this price, and the Exynos 1330 should handle everyday apps, social media and video streaming comfortably. Gaming is not its strength, and 25W charging is on the slower side. The 2MP macro camera also adds little beyond a spec-sheet number.
The software side is where the phone becomes questionable. Samsung promises 4 Android OS upgrades and 5 years of security patches, which looks generous on paper. But the phone launches with Android 15 and One UI 7.0, while Android 17 is already the current version. Two of those four upgrades (to Android 16 and 17) will only bring the phone to where newer Samsung devices already are today. That leaves just two upgrades beyond the current Android version. It is hard to understand why Samsung did not launch the phone on a newer version, and buyers should judge the update promise with this in mind.
The Galaxy F70 5G makes the most sense for users who want Samsung’s design, display and software experience at a reasonable price, and who will not be bothered by an older starting point. If long-term OS updates or fast charging matter more, it is worth comparing it with other phones around Rs. 20,000 before buying.
