Here I have given detail Jio AirFiber Review Of my experience
This article was last updated on January’12, 2026
We are living in the city where all fiber connections are available, and we are using Jio fiber since 2 years (Plan – ₹999/ 150 Mbps Speed), but there is one problem there are a lot of monkeys in my area and they break the wire every 15-20 days so it affects the performance of wired connection, as we all know fiber connection is stable so we have no problem with Jio fiber connection, and their service is also good they mostly repair the connection in 5-6 hours, but there are frequent disconnections due to monkeys so we opted for Jio Air fiber in January 2025 and here is my 12 month Jio Airfiber review and experience.
My Honest Experience and Addressing Negative Reviews
I have seen many people on X (formerly Twitter) sharing negative reviews about Jio Air Fiber. Some even comment on my posts saying that I am promoting Jio Air Fiber just because I gave it a positive review. I want to clarify that I am not promoting Jio. I am only sharing my real experience as a user.
It is true that in some areas where 5G services are not strong, Jio Air Fiber may not provide download speeds as per the plan. Also, I noticed that some people give negative reviews even without actually installing Jio Air Fiber at their location.
In my case, my connection has been working fine. I have not faced a single problem in the last seven months since installation. However, sometimes there can be installation-related problems. For example, if the outdoor device is not installed properly in the correct direction, connection issues may occur.
Overall, I believe the performance depends a lot on the 5G coverage and proper installation in your area. This review is purely based on my personal usage.
What is Jio AirFiber ?
Jio AirFiber isn’t just another Wi-Fi solution—it’s a modern, wireless broadband service that runs on Jio’s ultra-fast 5G network. It skips the messy cables and installations, bringing high-speed internet straight to your home via plug-and-play technology. Over the last few months, it’s become a go-to for users in well-connected urban areas.
Difference Between Jio Fiber and Jio AirFiber
Jio Fiber and Jio AirFiber are both high-speed internet services offered by Reliance Jio, but they differ in how they are delivered. Jio Fiber is a traditional broadband service that uses optical fiber cables to provide internet connectivity, which requires physical installation through underground or overhead wiring. In contrast, Jio AirFiber is a wireless solution that delivers internet via 5G technology, eliminating the need for cables and complex installations. This makes AirFiber ideal for areas where fiber infrastructure is limited or difficult to install. While both offer similar internet speeds and services, AirFiber provides more flexibility and quicker setup, whereas Jio Fiber might offer slightly more stable speeds due to its wired nature.
Jio AirFiber Plan ₹899 + GST Overview
The plan I subscribed to is priced at ₹899 per month, and after adding 18% GST, it totals ₹1060.80. Here’s what you get:
Speed: 100 Mbps , Its Upload speed Is mostly same with download
Data: Up to 1000 GB/month – Sufficient For us as we mostly utilize 600 GBs to 700 Gbs
OTT Access: Includes Jio Tv +, Jio Hotstar, Sony Liv, Zee5, Discovery Plus and other platforms
For casual users, students, and remote workers, this is a well-balanced plan.
Jio AirFiber Router Performance and Signal Quality Explained
The router provided with Jio AirFiber is an IPv6 router with excellent signal quality. My house measures 60×50 sq. ft., and I receive strong Wi-Fi signals in every corner. This router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands through a single unified Wi-Fi signal, meaning you only need to set up one Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password. It works flawlessly, with no connectivity issues across devices. I even tested it by connecting the dongle of my solar rooftop plant inverter, which supports only the 2.4 GHz band, and it connected without any problem. Overall, the signal quality of the router that comes with AirFiber is impressive.
Real-Life Usage Experience – 12 Months Later
I’ve been using this plan every day for the last twelve months, and overall, the experience has been consistently reliable.
Speed:
Most of the time, it stays between 95–100 Mbps, and day-to-day tasks like downloads, Zoom calls, and even casual gaming work smoothly.
Network Load Issue (Important):
However, during heavy 5G network load—especially when there’s a big cricket match or peak-time congestion—the real browsing speed can slow down.
Even though speed tests still show around 100 Mbps, apps and websites sometimes open slowly, and FHD (1080p) streaming may buffer. This is one of the few real-world limitations of AirFiber’s wireless nature.
Downtime:
Outside of those high-load moments, I’ve faced almost zero downtime. No random disconnections or mid-day drops during regular hours.
Pro Tip:
Restarting the device once every 48 hours (just a quick 2-minute power cycle) helps clear the internal cache and keeps the overall performance steady.
Upload Speeds:
Upload performance is consistently strong. Even during busier periods, uploads stay stable, which has been a huge advantage for me since I regularly work on website building and content uploads where reliable upload speed matters.
Billing System: What You Need to Know
Here’s where it gets a bit tricky: although it’s a postpaid plan, Jio takes payment in advance.
Example: If your billing cycle is 15th May to 14th June, you’re required to pay the monthly rental (₹1060.80) by 22nd May.
It feels prepaid, but is technically structured as postpaid.
So, keep track of the dates to avoid service interruption.
Initial Setup and First Payment
The first payment for setting up the service is ₹3333, which covers:
The first three months of usage (₹1060.80 x 3)
Device installation and activation
Instant setup within hours if you’re in a well-served 5G area
There are no extra hidden charges post this payment.
Performance in Well-Served 5G Areas
Jio AirFiber works best in areas with strong Jio 5G signals. If your area has full bars on a Jio 5G SIM, expect seamless service.
Urban zones: Excellent
Semi-urban areas: Decent, with occasional speed dips
Rural zones: Still catching up, not ideal yet
OTT Benefits Included
Your subscription includes OTT support, mainly via:
Jio Tv + ,Jio Hotstar, Sony Liv, Zee5, Discovery Plus and other platform Regional channels and sports
Smooth 4K streaming on a 100 Mbps line
It’s a treat for families who stream often and don’t want to pay separately for entertainment.
Comparing With Traditional Broadband
| Feature | Jio AirFiber | Traditional Broadband |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | Plug & play (instant) | Needs wiring |
| Speed Consistency | High (if in 5G zone) | High, but needs maintenance |
| Portability | Easily movable | Fixed to one location |
| Support | Jio App, quick resolution | Depends on provider |
Pros and Cons Summary
Pros
Stable Speeds: Regular speeds stay between 95–100 Mbps for browsing, calls, OTT streaming, and gaming.
No Cable Hassle: No risk of cable cuts, maintenance issues, or wiring problems—perfect for areas where fiber gets damaged frequently.
Zero Downtime (Most Days): Hardly any disconnections or mid-day drops during normal usage hours.
Strong Upload Speeds: Upload performance remains consistent even during peak periods—great for cloud uploads, website backups, and content work.
Quick Setup: Installation is smooth, and the device is truly plug-and-play.
Good Coverage Indoors: WiFi coverage inside the home is solid without requiring additional extenders.
Cons
5G Load Affects Real Usage: During heavy 5G congestion—especially during big cricket matches or peak hours—browsing becomes slow even if speed tests still show ~100 Mbps.
Occasional Buffering in FHD: During these network-load moments, even 1080p streaming may buffer for a few seconds.
Performance Varies by Signal Strength: If your home doesn’t have strong 5G reception, speeds may fluctuate more.
1 TB Data Cap: Most plans still come with a ~1000 GB (1 TB) monthly cap, which may be limiting for heavy-usage families.
Higher First Recharge Amount: Initial 3-month advance payment feels a bit steep for some users.
Technical Tips for Smooth Operation
Reboot every 2 days: Power off for 2 minutes to refresh connectivity
Place near a window for better 5G reception
Use dual-band routers if connecting multiple smart devices

Reaching their call center is big headache and they disconnect the call abruptly as well. Very much pathetic service.
