Jio Offers Free Canva Pro for 12 Months With Rs 399 Plan — But There’s a Catch

Jio Canva Offer: Free Canva Pro & Pro Lite for 12 Months

Reliance Jio has partnered with Canva to give millions of Indian users free access to Canva Pro and Canva Pro Lite for up to 12 months, tied directly to prepaid recharge plans. The offer goes live from September 16 via the MyJio app, and while the headline number looks generous, there’s a continuity condition buried in the fine print that changes how you should actually use it.

What’s on Jio Canva Offer

Jio and Canva announced the strategic partnership on September 15, bringing Canva’s AI-powered design tools to Jio’s prepaid subscriber base. The benefit is tied to which recharge plan you’re on:

  • Rs 399 plan → Canva Pro free for 12 months (worth ₹4,000)
  • Rs 349 plan and all eligible 2GB/day plans above Rs 349 → Canva Pro Lite free for 12 months

There’s no separate signup or extra payment. Eligible users open the MyJio app, tap the Canva offer, and start using it immediately — Jio says there are no hidden charges.

Canva Pro vs Canva Pro Lite: What’s the Difference

Both tiers share the core toolkit — premium templates, photos, videos, and fonts, a one-tap background remover, print-ready exports, Magic Resize, and Magic Eraser. The gap shows up in storage and AI features:

If you’re doing serious content work — scheduling posts, running a brand, or using AI generation heavily — the full Pro tier on the Rs 399 plan is the meaningfully better deal, not just a bigger number.

Jio’s Rs 399 and Rs 349 Plans Aren’t Just About Canva

Based on Jio’s own plan listings, both tiers bundle in considerably more than the Canva benefit — including a Google Gemini Pro subscription, which isn’t exclusive to the pricier plan.

Rs 399 plan:

  • 28-day validity, 70GB total data, 2.5GB/day high-speed data
  • Unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS/day
  • JioGames Mobile, FanCode, JioHotstar, JioTV subscriptions
  • JioAICloud with 50GB free storage
  • Free 18-month Google Gemini Pro Plan worth ₹35,100, including 5000GB cloud storage and Nano Banana access

Rs 349 plan:

  • 28-day validity, 56GB total data, 2GB/day high-speed data
  • Unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS/day
  • JioTV and JioHotstar Mobile subscriptions
  • JioAICloud with 50GB free storage
  • Free 18-month Google Gemini Pro Plan worth ₹35,100 — the same Gemini bundle as the Rs 399 plan

The only meaningful gap between the two tiers, benefit-wise, is Canva Pro (Rs 399) versus Canva Pro Lite (Rs 349) — the Gemini Pro benefit itself is identical across both. Stack Canva and Gemini Pro together and even the cheaper Rs 349 recharge is doing a lot more work than a typical mobile plan.

The Catch: You Have to Stay Continuously Recharged

This is the part most coverage of the offer is glossing over. Per Jio’s own terms: to keep using the Canva and Google Gemini benefits, a user must remain continuously active on an unlimited 5G plan of Rs 399 or above for the entire duration of the offer.

In practice, this means:

  • Recharging once with Rs 399 does not lock in 12 months of Canva Pro regardless of what you do afterward.
  • If you drop to a cheaper plan in any future cycle — a common move to save money — you risk losing access to Canva Pro and Gemini Pro before the 12 months are up.
  • JioHotstar’s continuity rule gives users a 48-hour grace window after plan expiry to recharge and keep that benefit. It isn’t confirmed whether the same grace period applies to the Canva and Gemini benefits, so the safer assumption is to recharge before your current plan expires, not after.

If you’re planning to use this offer for its full 12-month value, budget for staying on the Rs 399 (or Rs 349, for Pro Lite) plan continuously — not just for the first recharge.

Is It Actually a Good Deal?

Yes, especially if you already pay for Jio and would buy Canva Pro anyway. A standalone Canva Pro subscription in India runs roughly ₹500/month bought directly. Against that:

  • Rs 399/month (Jio plan) gets you connectivity you’re likely already paying for, plus Canva Pro, plus the Gemini Pro bundle
  • Rs 349/month (Jio plan) gets you the same connectivity and Gemini Pro bundle, plus Canva Pro Lite
  • ₹500+/month (Canva Pro alone) gets you just the design tool

For designers, bloggers, content creators, and small business owners who need Canva regularly, the effective cost of the subscription drops close to zero once you fold it into a recharge you’d be paying for anyway — as long as you keep the plan active without interruption.

If you want to claim the Gemini benefit as well — available on both the Rs 349 and Rs 399 plans — we’ve covered the activation steps separately: How to Activate Jio Gemini Subscription..

How to Claim It

  1. Recharge with the Rs 399 or Rs 349 plan (or an eligible 2GB/day plan above Rs 349)
  2. Open the MyJio app
  3. Tap on the Canva offer banner
  4. Start using Canva Pro or Canva Pro Lite — no separate signup needed

The offer is live across channels from September 16.
