Indian Developers Reclaim Time with AI-Assisted Coding

The report features insights from 1,129 senior developers and 50 project managers across 63 countries and 100+ industries, including 143 participants from India.

Indian developers using AI for coding save an impressive 10 hours per week, 2.7 hours above the global average—essentially reclaiming an entire workday through automation and smarter workflows.


India Races Ahead on AI Adoption and Upskilling

  • 72% of Indian developers worry about falling behind in AI skills.

  • They dedicate 5 hours per week to AI upskilling—1 hour more than the global average.

  • YouTube tutorials (56%) and on-the-job learning (56%) are the most popular ways to learn AI tools and frameworks.

Nearly 48% plan to upskill in AI and machine learning next quarter—twice as many as those focusing on DevOps and Cloud (22%).


AI Boosts Code Quality and Job Satisfaction

AI tools are not just saving time—they’re improving code quality and job satisfaction:

  • 43% of Indian developers say over 25% of their code is now written with AI assistance.

  • 92% agree AI has enhanced their work quality, citing:

    • Faster coding (67%)

    • Better code quality (43%)

    • Higher productivity (38%)

  • 81% say AI makes their work more fulfilling, and 88% believe AI is unlocking new career paths through automation and AI-agent workflows.

Businesses Still Catching Up

Despite widespread individual adoption, enterprise AI integration remains slow:

  • 64% of global AI projects are still in exploratory phases.

  • Only 3% have fully integrated AI into delivery pipelines.

  • In India, the biggest barriers include:

    • Data privacy concerns (62%)

    • Unclear client policies (52%)

    • Legacy systems (50%)

Globally, project managers cite unclear ROI (38%) and resource limitations (36%) as additional challenges.
