Published : September 25, 2026. I’ll be updating this article with Prime early-access prices on October 7 and public sale prices on October 8, so bookmark it if you want to see whether the discounts are actually real.
It is confirmed on September 20 that the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 starts on October 8, with Prime members getting 24-hour early access from October 7. That puts Amazon a day ahead of Flipkart, whose Big Billion Days opens to the public on October 9 (early access for Plus and Black members starts October 8, so the two overlap on that day).
Amazon hasn’t announced an end date yet. Going by past years, expect the sale to run in waves through Dussehra and into the run-up to Diwali, which falls on November 8 this year.
Every big publication has already covered the announcement itself, so instead of rewriting Amazon’s press release, I checked live prices on 17 specific products today — laptops, washing machines, soundbars, kitchen appliances, earbuds, and smartwatches — and I’m going to track the same listings through Prime early access and the public sale. That’s the only way to actually know if a “40% off” banner means anything.
When does it start — the exact timeline
- October 7: Prime members get 24-hour early access
- October 8: Sale opens to everyone
- No confirmed end date: based on previous years, expect it to run in waves for 2-3 weeks, tapering toward Diwali on November 8
Amazon vs Flipkart — who opens first this year
| Early access | Public opening | |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Great Indian Festival | October 7 (Prime) | October 8 |
| Flipkart Big Billion Days | October 8 (Plus/Black) | October 9 |
Amazon opens to the general public a full day before Flipkart does. If you’re not paying for Prime or Flipkart Plus, Amazon simply has a one-day head start this year.

Bank offers and EMI confirmed so far
Amazon has confirmed these offers for the 2026 sale:
- 10% instant discount on SBI Credit and Debit Cards, including eligible EMI transactions
- Up to 10% extra for Prime members on top of sale prices
- No Cost EMI across eligible categories
- Deal formats: Blockbuster Deals, Top 100 Deals, Mega Deals, and a daily 8 PM Deals flash slot, plus Buy More Save More, Exchange Mela, Sample Mania, and Amazon Combos
Amazon says it’s also rolling out AI-powered shopping tools this year — product comparison, price history, and recommendations built into product pages and search. I haven’t been able to verify how these actually work yet; I’ll test them once the sale is live and add real screenshots rather than just repeating the announcement.
Is the discount actually real? Here’s how I’m checking
Indian shoppers have good reason to be skeptical of festive “discounts” — a lot of them are just MRP inflated a few weeks before the sale, then “discounted” back down to roughly where it started. The only way to catch this is to know the price before the sale banner goes up.
That’s what the table below is. I checked these 17 listings on September 25 — two weeks before the sale — and I’ll check the exact same listings again on October 7 and October 8. If a product’s “sale price” on October 8 is higher than or equal to what it was on September 25, that tells you the discount is cosmetic.
What’s verified vs what’s still to be checked
Verified today (September 25):
- Amazon’s official sale announcement and confirmed dates
- Current pre-sale price on all 17 listings below
- Product specifications for each listing
To be checked once the sale goes live:
- Actual sale price on October 7 (Prime) and October 8 (public)
- Any coupon shown on the listing
- Bank discount actually applied at checkout (not just advertised)
- Prime benefit applied on top of the sale price
- The final effective price after all of the above stack
- How that final price compares to the September 25 baseline

Laptops
| Product | Pre-sale price (Sep 25) | Prime early access (Oct 7) | Public sale (Oct 8) |
|---|---|---|---|
| HP 15 fd0883TU — Core 3 100U (i3 14th Gen), 8GB DDR5, 512GB SSD, Win11, MS Office 2024, 15.6″ FHD | ₹56,700 | — | — |
| HP Professional 15 — Core 3 100U 14th Gen, 8GB DDR5, 512GB SSD, Win11 Pro, Copilot Key, MS Office 2024 | ₹48,290 | — | — |
| Dell 15 AI-Powered — Intel Core Ultra 5 225H, 16GB DDR5, 512GB SSD, Intel Arc Graphics, Copilot Key | ₹84,990 | — | — |
| HP 15 fc0806AU/690AU — AMD Ryzen 5 7520U, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, Win11, M365 Basic, Backlit Keyboard | ₹67,990 | — | — |
Two of these are worth a closer look before the sale even starts. The HP 15 fd0883TU and the HP Professional 15 both run the same Core 3 100U 14th Gen chip and the same 8GB/512GB configuration — the ₹8,410 gap between them (₹56,700 vs ₹48,290) comes down to Windows 11 Home vs Pro, and the Copilot Key on the Professional variant. If you don’t need Windows 11 Pro, the lower-priced model is worth considering before checking what the sale does to either price.
Washing machines
| Product | Pre-sale price (Sep 25) | Prime early access (Oct 7) | Public sale (Oct 8) |
|---|---|---|---|
| LG T70VBMB1Z — 7kg, 5 Star, Smart Inverter, Top Load, Turbodrum, Smart Diagnosis | ₹19,990 | — | — |
| Samsung WA70BG4441YYTL — 7kg, 5 Star, Eco Bubble, Digital Inverter, Top Load | ₹18,990 | — | — |
| LG FHB1207Z2W — 7kg, 5 Star, Steam, Direct Drive, 6 Motion DD, Front Load, In-Built Heater | ₹27,490 | — | — |
| IFB SERENA OXN 7012 — 7kg, 5 Star, 9 Swirl Wash, Steam Refresh, WiFi, AI-Powered Front Load | ₹31,390 | — | — |
The LG and Samsung top-load machines are almost identical on price today, just ₹1,000 apart. Both are 7kg, 5-star rated. This is one to watch closely on October 8 — if one drops significantly more than the other, that’s a real signal about which brand is discounting harder this sale versus which one padded its price beforehand.
Soundbars
| Product | Pre-sale price (Sep 25) | Prime early access (Oct 7) | Public sale (Oct 8) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sony HT-S40R — 5.1ch Dolby Audio, Wireless Rear Speakers, 600W, Bluetooth/USB/HDMI | ₹26,990 | — | — |
| Sony HT-S20R — 5.1ch Dolby Digital, Compact Rear Speakers, 400W, Bluetooth/USB/HDMI | ₹17,701 | — | — |
| Samsung HW-B67EF/XL — 490W 5.1ch, Dolby Audio, DTS Virtual:X, Q-Symphony, Wireless Subwoofer | ₹26,990 | — | — |
The Sony HT-S40R and the Samsung HW-B67EF/XL are priced exactly the same today — ₹26,990 each. Both are 5.1ch systems with a wireless subwoofer and roughly comparable power output. Because their current prices are identical, the sale-day price difference will be worth tracking — but the final choice should still depend on sound quality, connectivity, and rear-speaker setup, not discount percentage alone.
Kitchen
| Product | Pre-sale price (Sep 25) | Prime early access (Oct 7) | Public sale (Oct 8) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sujata Dynamix Mixer Grinder — 900W, 22000 RPM, 3 steel jars | ₹7,090 | — | — |
| Philips HL7756 Mixer Grinder — 750W, 3 stainless steel jars | ₹3,499 | — | — |
Earbuds
| Product | Pre-sale price (Sep 25) | Prime early access (Oct 7) | Public sale (Oct 8) |
|---|---|---|---|
| OnePlus Nord Buds 4 — 52dB real-time ANC, Spatial Audio, 54hrs playback | ₹3,299 | — | — |
| realme Buds T310 — 46dB Hybrid ANC, 360° Spatial Audio, 40hrs battery | ₹2,399 | — | — |
Budget ANC earbuds are a category where festive discounts tend to be genuinely aggressive, since the margins support it. A ₹900 gap separates these two today — worth checking back on October 8 to see if that gap widens or narrows.
Smartwatches
| Product | Pre-sale price (Sep 25) | Prime early access (Oct 7) | Public sale (Oct 8) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy Watch8 — 44mm LTE Graphite, 3nm processor, Dual GPS, Sapphire Glass, BP/ECG | ₹25,999 | — | — |
| Apple Watch SE 3 — GPS 40mm Midnight Aluminium, Midnight Sport Band M/L | ₹25,900 | — | — |
These two land within ₹99 of each other today, despite being from completely different ecosystems. If you’re choosing between Android and iOS rather than between these two specifically, the sale price probably won’t be the deciding factor — but it’s still worth checking which one moves more.
I’ll update the prices in this table on October 7 and October 8, then compare the sale prices with today’s prices to see how much the prices actually change.
