Jio now sells its cable broadband (JioFiber) and 5G wireless broadband (JioAirFiber) under one name, JioHome. If you’re comparing JioFiber vs JioAirFiber plans, several plans carry the same price on both, which can make Jio’s plan list easy to misread. This guide lists every plan side by side, explains what actually differs between Fiber and AirFiber, and includes what I saw when I set up my own JioAirFiber connection.
Quick answer
- The plan name and price don’t tell you which technology you get. Availability at your address decides that.
- Monthly plan prices are fixed. Advance rental options and installation charges can change by city, state and season.
- Plans ₹399, ₹699, ₹888, ₹999 and ₹8,499 are Fiber only. ₹599, ₹899, ₹1,199 and the 300 Mbps and faster plans are on both.
- ₹899 is a speed upgrade over ₹599, not an entertainment upgrade. The same 13 OTT apps come with both.
- Every plan that bundles OTT apps lists 1000+ TV channels. ₹399 and ₹699 list no TV and no OTT.
- AirFiber has a 1,000 GB high-speed limit, then 64 Kbps. Fiber has a 3,300 GB commercial-usage threshold.

What changed: Fiber and AirFiber under JioHome
Jio lists these services under the JioHome name. Its JioHome page describes the service as powered by JioFiber and JioAirFiber, and Jio has said it picks the most suitable option for your address based on its coverage mapping.
The result is one plan list with two technologies behind it:
- JioFiber runs a physical fibre cable to your home.
- JioAirFiber is a 5G fixed wireless service. An outdoor unit receives the signal from a nearby tower.
Jio’s own FAQ says AirFiber offers the same value proposition as JioFiber. That is true of the bundle, but the connection, the data policy and what you pay upfront are not the same.

JioFiber vs JioAirFiber: the real differences
| Feature | JioFiber | JioAirFiber |
|---|---|---|
| How it reaches you | Fibre cable to your home | 5G wireless from a nearby tower |
| Cheapest plan | ₹399 | ₹599 |
| Plans only on this service | ₹399, ₹699, ₹888, ₹999, ₹8,499 | None |
| Data policy | Unlimited, with a 3,300 GB monthly commercial-usage threshold. After that, data isn’t available for the rest of the billing cycle | 1,000 GB at high speed, then unlimited at 64 Kbps |
| Fiber-only plan note | “Available only in select locations with Fiber serviceability” | Not applicable |
| Advance rental (new customers) | 3, 6 or 12 months on most plans | 3, 6 or 12 months |
| Installation | Nil on Jio’s tariff sheet | Tariff sheet lists ₹1,000 by Reliance Retail, waived on 12-month advance rental |
Installation and advance options vary by city and season, so treat the last two rows as a starting point and check at booking. The ₹1,000 figure comes from Jio’s tariff sheet. I wasn’t charged a separate installation fee in January 2025 (more below).

Typical speeds
All Jio plan cards say “up to.” Jio’s tariff sheet also gives typical speeds, measured on the test set-up in TRAI’s quality-of-service rules. These are 10th-percentile figures, which means 90% of subscribers should see better:
| Plan Speed | Typical Download | Typical Upload |
|---|---|---|
| 30 Mbps | 30 Mbps | 24 Mbps |
| 100 Mbps | 100 Mbps | 80 Mbps |
| 150 Mbps | 150 Mbps | 120 Mbps |
| 300 Mbps | 300 Mbps | 240 Mbps |
| 500 Mbps | 500 Mbps | 400 Mbps |
The sheet doesn’t list a 1 Gbps row.

Real-world JioAirFiber speed test: A Speedtest performed on October 2, 2026, on my JioAirFiber connection recorded 90.71 Mbps download and 58.44 Mbps upload. Actual speeds can vary depending on network conditions, Wi-Fi, device, and other factors.
Every JioHome plans side by side
Monthly plans, prices before GST. OTT counts come from the apps listed on each plan card.
| Plan | Speed | Available On | OTT Apps | Netflix | YouTube Premium | Prime Lite | TV Channels |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₹399 | Up to 30 Mbps | Fiber only | None | No | No | No | Not listed |
| ₹599 | Up to 30 Mbps | Both | 13 | No | No | 1 year | 1000+ |
| ₹699 | Up to 100 Mbps | Fiber only | None | No | No | No | Not listed |
| ₹888 | Up to 30 Mbps | Fiber only | 15 | Basic | Yes | 2 years | 1000+ |
| ₹899 | Up to 100 Mbps | Both | 13 | No | No | 1 year | 1000+ |
| ₹999 | Up to 150 Mbps | Fiber only | 13 | No | No | 2 years | 1000+ |
| ₹1,199 | Up to 100 Mbps | Both | 16 | Basic | Yes | 2 years | 1000+ |
| ₹1,499 | Up to 300 Mbps | Both (AirFiber Max) | 16 | Basic | Yes | 2 years | 1000+ |
The 13-app plans carry Prime Lite, JioHotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5, Sun NXT, Hoichoi, Discovery+, TimesPlay, TarangPlus, Eros Now, Lionsgate Play, ShemarooMe and ETV Win. ₹888 adds Netflix Basic and YouTube Premium. ₹1,199 and ₹1,499 add FanCode (via JioTV+). ZEE5 doesn’t include premium sports on any plan.

Higher-speed plans
| Plan | Speed | Available On | Netflix | Prime Lite | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₹2,499 | Up to 500 Mbps | Both (AirFiber Max) | Standard | 2 years | Jio tariff sheet; Gadgets 360 listing (Aug 2026) |
| ₹3,999 | Up to 1 Gbps | Both (AirFiber Max) | Standard | 2 years | Jio tariff sheet; Gadgets 360 listing (Aug 2026) |
| ₹8,499 | Up to 1 Gbps, 6,600 GB data | Fiber only | Premium | 2 years | Jio tariff sheet; Gadgets 360 listing (Aug 2026) |
Gadgets 360 lists these plans as 15-app bundles. I haven’t confirmed the TV channel count and YouTube Premium on these three cards.
Prime Lite: 1 year or 2 years
The Prime Lite term follows the plan. ₹599 and ₹899 get 1 year. ₹999, ₹1,199 and everything faster get 2 years. In my testing, the 1-year tier plays one stream at a time, while the 2-year tier allows two devices. Details are in my Prime Lite activation guide.
TV channels
Channels can’t be selected on the bundled plans. If a plan includes TV, you get the whole 1000+ channel list through the Live TV app on the Jio set-top box. I covered how it works in Jio Live TV on JioFiber and AirFiber.
What you actually pay for: rental plus OTT
Jio’s tariff sheet splits every plan price into two parts: a connectivity rental and an OTT suite add-on. The split is derived from the sheet’s GST-inclusive rentals, before GST:
| Plan | Fiber: Rental + OTT Suite | AirFiber: Rental + Device + OTT Suite |
|---|---|---|
| ₹399 | ₹399 + none | Not offered |
| ₹599 | ₹494 + ₹105 | ₹214 + ₹385 |
| ₹699 | ₹699 + none | Not offered |
| ₹888 | ₹494 + ₹394 | Not offered |
| ₹899 | ₹794 + ₹105 | ₹514 + ₹385 |
| ₹999 | ₹880 + ₹119 | Not offered |
| ₹1,199 | ₹920 + ₹279 | ₹649 + ₹550 |
| ₹1,499 | ₹1,083 + ₹416 | ₹729 + ₹770 |
Two things stand out:
- On Fiber, ₹599 and ₹888 have the same rental. Only the OTT add-on differs (₹105 vs ₹394), and that is the whole difference between them.
- On AirFiber, the second part also covers the device. The sheet describes it as “CPE devices and subscription to OTT Application suite,” which is why the OTT portion looks large.
The split isn’t a simple per-app price. ₹1,199 carries more apps than ₹888, yet its OTT add-on is lower.
Jio Home Plans comparisons that matter
- ₹599 vs ₹899: same 13 apps, same 1-year Prime Lite. ₹899 is a pure speed upgrade, from 30 to 100 Mbps. The rental difference on the tariff sheet is about ₹354 including GST.
- ₹599 vs ₹888: same 30 Mbps. For ₹289 more, ₹888 adds Netflix Basic and YouTube Premium and doubles Prime Lite to 2 years.
- ₹899 vs ₹999: about ₹100 more gets 150 Mbps instead of 100 Mbps and a 2-year Prime Lite instead of 1 year. Fiber only.
- ₹899 vs ₹1,199: both 100 Mbps. For ₹300 more you get Netflix Basic, YouTube Premium, FanCode and the longer Prime Lite.
- ₹888 vs ₹1,199: both include Netflix Basic and YouTube Premium. ₹1,199 gives 100 Mbps instead of 30 Mbps and adds FanCode.
- ₹1,199 vs ₹1,499: identical apps. The difference is 100 vs 300 Mbps.
- ₹399 vs ₹699: no OTT or TV on either. Choose by speed, 30 or 100 Mbps. Both are Fiber only.
So: ₹599 to ₹899 buys speed. ₹599 to ₹888 buys entertainment.
Longer plans and advance rental
Bonus days, not discounts
On the Fiber plans listed by Gadgets 360 (updated August 2026), a 6-month plan is priced at exactly 6 times the monthly price and runs 195 days. A 12-month plan costs 12 times the monthly price and runs 390 days. For example, ₹1,499 becomes ₹8,994 for 6 months and ₹17,988 for 12 months. You get 15 or 30 extra days instead of a lower price.
Advance rental options
Jio’s plan cards show these options for new customers:
| Plan | Options Shown on Jio’s Site |
|---|---|
| ₹399, ₹599 | 6 months 12 months |
| ₹699, ₹899, ₹999, ₹1,199, ₹1,499 | 3 months 6 months 12 months |
These can differ by city, state and season, so the options you see at booking may not match this table. Monthly plan prices stay the same.
How I got my JioAirFiber connection
I installed my JioAirFiber in January 2025. Here is how it went, step by step. Your own experience may differ by city and time of year.
- A Jio advisor visits. The advisor checks that service reaches your address and verifies your documents. In my case, they took only an Aadhaar card and a current electricity bill. DoT rules require proof of identity and proof of address, so a second document may be needed in your location.
- The advisor quotes the upfront amount. It can vary by city, state and season. I paid ₹3,333 upfront for a 3-month connection.
- You pay by Jio’s QR code. The confirmation arrived on WhatsApp and SMS within a minute or two. Keep both messages as your record.
- Installation follows. Usually on the second day after payment, and sometimes the same day.
- No separate installation fee was charged in my case. The tariff sheet lists a ₹1,000 charge by the installation partner on AirFiber, waived on 12-month advance rental, so confirm what your amount covers before you pay.
Tip: before paying, ask what the amount covers: advance rental months, any installation fee and any device charge. Check that the payee on the QR shows Jio or Reliance, and compare the confirmation message with the amount you were quoted.
Postpaid in name, prepaid in practice
Jio calls these plans postpaid, but they work closer to prepaid with a safety net:
- The bill covers the coming month, not the past one. Mine is generated on the 15th of each month and is due on the 22nd, and I pay it for the next month.
- Service doesn’t cut off the day you miss the due date. Jio’s tariff terms say that if you don’t pay by the due date, Jio may provide plan benefits in a curtailed manner during a grace period of up to 30 days. If the bill is still unpaid 90 days after the due date, Jio may disconnect the service at its discretion.
- The sheet doesn’t say what “curtailed” means in practice, so don’t count on full speed after the due date.
- Advance rental is not refundable if you deactivate the connection, according to the same terms.
My 3-month advance worked this way too: one payment up front, then the monthly bill cycle each month.
The new Wi-Fi-only, TV-only and 3-in-1 packs
Jio has also introduced multi-month packs that split the bundle. Jio’s website doesn’t show their details, so these figures come from news reports and need checking in your MyJio app:
| Pack | Reported Price | Reported Term | Effective Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| TV-only | ₹2,000 | 5 months | About ₹400 |
| TV-only | ₹1,000 | 2 months, with a ₹200 setup fee returned as four ₹50 coupons | About ₹500 |
| Wi-Fi-only, 30 Mbps | ₹2,200 | 5 months | About ₹440 |
| Wi-Fi-only, 100 Mbps | ₹3,000 | 5 months | About ₹600 |
| 3-in-1, 30 Mbps | ₹2,222 | 3 to 4 months, reported inconsistently | About ₹555 |
| 3-in-1, 100 Mbps | ₹2,122 | 2 to 3 months, reported inconsistently | About ₹707 |
One source ties the ₹2,122 plan to new customers in selected Smart Society Program societies, so it may not be open to everyone. None of the reports I read says whether these prices include GST.
What this means for channels: TV can now be bought on its own, and Wi-Fi without TV. So “1000+ channels” holds for the 3-in-1 and OTT-bundled plans, not for every plan or pack.
Which connection should you pick?
- Internet only, lowest cost: ₹399 (30 Mbps) or ₹699 (100 Mbps). Both are JioFiber-only plans.
- TV and OTT on a budget: ₹599, available on both JioFiber and JioAirFiber.
- Families who stream on several devices: ₹899, or ₹999 if you want 150 Mbps and the 2-year Prime Lite. Both are JioFiber and JioAirFiber options.
- Netflix and YouTube Premium on a small connection: ₹888 (30 Mbps, JioFiber only).
- Netflix, YouTube Premium and 100 Mbps: ₹1,199, available on both connections.
- Heavy users and large households: ₹1,499 (300 Mbps) or faster, available on both connections.
- No cable in your building: Choose an eligible JioAirFiber plan, since AirFiber is designed for locations where wired Fiber service isn’t available.
- For regular gaming and JioGames: If you plan to use JioGames or cloud gaming frequently, JioFiber may be worth considering where it is available. JioAirFiber has a 1,000 GB monthly high-speed allowance, after which the connection is reduced to 64 Kbps. Cloud gaming can consume significant amounts of data over time, so frequent gaming could make that limit more noticeable.

FAQ
Jio Fiber Vs Jio AirFiber which is better?
Fiber is a dedicated cable, and its data threshold is much higher. AirFiber installs quickly where cable isn’t available. The bundled apps and TV are the same on the plans they share.
Why is the same plan priced the same on both?
Jio sells them under the JioHome name with shared price points. The difference is in the connection, the data policy and the upfront charges.
Do all JioFiber vs JioAirFiber plans include TV channels?
No. ₹399 and ₹699 list no TV and no OTT apps. Every plan with an OTT bundle lists 1000+ channels.
Which plans include Netflix?
₹888, ₹1,199 and ₹1,499 include Netflix Basic. ₹2,499 and ₹3,999 are listed with Netflix Standard, and ₹8,499 with Netflix Premium.
Is Jio’s postpaid plan the same as a prepaid recharge?
Not exactly. You pay the rental in advance, but the account stays active through the due date and a grace period, as described above.
How long does installation take?
In my experience, usually the second day after payment, and sometimes the same day. This can vary by city and season.
Do monthly plan prices change by city?
No. Monthly plan prices are the same everywhere. Advance rental options and installation charges can change by city, state and season.
Is voice calling free?
The plan cards list voice as free. One report on a ₹3,333 plan said free calling needs a landline instrument purchased separately, so check this when you book.
Plan details were checked against Jio’s postpaid tariff sheet and plan cards in October 2026. Plans, offers and charges change often, so confirm everything in the MyJio app or at booking before you pay.
