Bangalore, Karnataka, India:
Truecaller has rolled out a major new safety upgrade called Family Protection, designed to make digital security a shared experience within families. The feature is integrated directly into the Truecaller app on both Android and iOS, allowing users to create trusted family groups and get real-time protection from scam calls and unwanted communications.

With this update, families—especially those with members who may not be tech-savvy—gain a smarter, more unified way to stay safe online. On Android devices, the Family Administrator can even receive alerts during suspicious calls and remotely end the call for their loved ones.

What Truecaller Family Protection Brings to the Table

Truecaller’s new Family Protection feature allows up to five members to join a secure family group. At the center is the Family Admin, who can:

  • Configure protection levels

  • Manage blocklists

  • Oversee how spam and suspicious calls are handled

  • Use real-time support tools on Android to intervene during potentially fraudulent calls

This setup aims to simplify digital safety for every generation—whether you’re safeguarding parents, grandparents, or younger family members.

Remote Management Gets Smarter on Android

On Android devices, Family Protection unlocks a more powerful support dashboard for admins:

  • Instant alerts during potential scam calls

  • Remote call handling, including ending suspicious calls

  • Real-time activity indicators such as battery status, phone activity, and availability

These tools give families a clearer picture of how and when their loved ones are interacting with their phones, making it easier to step in when needed.

A Strategic Push for Higher Engagement

While Family Protection is available for free, it also opens the door for deeper engagement. Families wanting advanced security features can upgrade to Truecaller Premium Family, which extends:

  • Enhanced spam and fraud blocking

  • Auto-rejection of high-risk numbers

  • An ad-free experience

  • Coverage for up to five users

This aligns with Truecaller’s strategy to boost recurring subscription revenue through high-value features.

Pilot Rollout & India Launch Timeline

Truecaller is first rolling out Family Protection in Sweden, Chile, Malaysia, and Kenya as part of a phased pilot.
The India launch is scheduled for Q1 2026, giving the company time to evaluate early user feedback before expanding to its biggest market.

A Step Toward a Safer Communication Ecosystem

With Family Protection, Truecaller moves beyond basic caller ID and spam detection, taking a bigger leap toward building a holistic communication safety ecosystem.

“Truecaller is already being used by members of the family, and now we empower the ‘CTO’ of the family to protect the less tech-savvy members,”
Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO at Truecaller.

As scam tactics grow increasingly sophisticated, this new feature aims to offer families more peace of mind and a proactive shield against digital threats.
