At its MediaTek Tech Day event in Delhi, MediaTek officially unveiled two new smartphone chipsets — Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500 — aimed at redefining performance across flagship and premium Android devices.

The company, which powers nearly two billion connected devices globally every year, highlighted how these platforms are designed to deliver meaningful improvements in AI, gaming, imaging, power efficiency, and connectivity. The event was attended by media, analysts, and OEM partners, with OPPO India and POCO India confirming upcoming smartphones for the Indian market powered by the flagship Dimensity 9500s.

From a TechMitra perspective, this launch feels less about chasing raw benchmark numbers and more about bringing true flagship experiences to a wider audience — something Indian users increasingly care about.

Dimensity 9500s: MediaTek’s New Flagship Powerhouse

The Dimensity 9500s is built on an advanced 3nm process and introduces MediaTek’s All-Big Core architecture, focusing on sustained performance with improved energy efficiency.

It features an octa-core CPU with one Cortex-X925 ultra core clocked up to 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 premium cores, and four Cortex-A720 performance cores. For graphics, MediaTek integrates the Immortalis-G925 GPU, enabling hardware-based ray tracing and smoother frame delivery in demanding mobile games.

AI is another major pillar here. The upgraded NPU is optimized for generative reasoning and multi-modal models, powering smarter photography, faster on-device AI tasks, and enhanced content creation workflows — all directly on the phone.

Camera capabilities also get a serious boost, including:

  • 8K full-focus Dolby Vision HDR recording with real-time motion tracking
  • MediaTek Imagiq ISP for advanced computational photography

On the connectivity side, the chipset supports 5G Release-17 with up to 7Gbps download speeds, along with MediaTek 5G UltraSave 4.0 for better battery efficiency. Features like AI Network Suite 2.0 help stabilize connections in weak signal areas, while Xtra Range 3.0 extends indoor Wi-Fi coverage and enables long-distance Bluetooth connections of up to 5 kilometres.

For gamers, MediaTek’s Adaptive Game Technology 3.0 and Frame Technology 3.0 focus on maintaining full-frame gameplay while reducing power consumption — a practical improvement for long gaming sessions.

Dimensity 8500: Premium Performance, Broader Reach

Sitting just below the flagship tier, the Dimensity 8500 targets performance-focused premium smartphones. Built on a power-efficient 4nm process, it uses eight Cortex-A725 cores clocked up to 3.4GHz and supports LPDDR5X 9600Mbps memory for faster multitasking.

Its Mali-G720 GPU delivers up to a 25% performance uplift over the previous generation, while ray tracing support makes its way into more mainstream gaming devices.

The 8th-generation NPU enables support for large language models and image generation, alongside AI features like ultra-clear telephoto processing and MediaTek’s semantic engine for intelligent frame optimization. In everyday terms, users can expect smoother apps, better photos, and more consistent battery life.

OPPO and POCO Bet Big on Dimensity 9500s

At the event, OPPO announced plans to bring the Find X9s to India, expanding its flagship lineup powered by Dimensity 9500s. POCO also confirmed an upcoming smartphone based on the same chipset, promising performance-led experiences tailored for power users.

Both brands emphasized their collaboration with MediaTek to deliver real-world improvements rather than just spec-sheet upgrades.

TechMitra Take

MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s and 8500 mark a clear shift toward practical flagship innovation — blending AI, gaming, imaging, and efficiency into platforms that don’t feel out of reach. With OPPO and POCO already on board, these chipsets are set to power some of India’s most interesting Android launches in 2026.

If pricing stays competitive (as MediaTek partners usually manage), expect these platforms to challenge traditional flagship players — especially for users who want premium features without premium compromises.
